Calathea is also known as the "Pinstripe Plant" for good reason – its elongated, dark green leaves are lined with electric pink stripes. Seeing this plant for the first time, it's hard to believe it's not been painted - the pinstripes are so delicate that they look like brushstrokes, contrasting beautifully with plant's deep green leaves and dark purple undersides. Give Calathea a central place in your home and this indoor plant is sure to draw comments and admiration.
Calathea prefers medium to bright indirect light. Keep guarded from direct sun and mist periodically to increase humidity around the plant and keep its leaves lush.
Got a response to my review saying the following
"Thank you for the reminder of how important it is to be sustainable. We are very much committed to that goal. All of our packaging is recycled in some form. The packing peanuts are living a second life. As we receive inventory and supplies, we reuse the packing peanuts that were sent to us initially. We do not purchase new packing peanuts to ship.
We only have one Mother Earth and we all must do our part to take care of her!"
Love that and my pinstripe plant is doing well so far. I had to trim the tips of some leaves because I wasn't keeping it in a humid environment like it likes. But after reading a bit more about it, the pink stripes in the leaves can become yellow if not kept under the right conditions. When I got it, they were pink so crazy plant bae is obviously taking great care! Definitely not a beginner plant but if you read the care instructions it's definitely doable.
10/10 would buy again.
My sister gifted this to me and it's such a beautiful plant. It came in such good condition that I thought it wasn't real. The only reason for the star off is that it came packaged with the styrofoam peanuts. I would feel a lot better about it if it was packaged with biodegradable packaging peanuts or something a little more eco-friendly.
